The 2016 Chef Series celebrates the art of collaboration among friends. I’m very pleased to open my kitchen and cook with some of the best chefs in Mexico to delight J&G Grill patrons,” said Olivier Deboise Mendez, chef de cuisine of J&G Grill Mexico. “Each event will be similar to hosting a dinner party at home, paired with great wines. Together, we are excited to create menus that reflect the style of each chef duo, providing a special experience each time.”
The 2016 Chef Series will begin on August 26 featuring Chef Eduardo Morali, executive chef at Eloise in Mexico City and recipient of the “Revelation Chef” award from the 2015 Food and Travel People’s Choice Awards. During this special culinary event, Deboise Mendez and Morali will work side by side to curate a unique menu paired with Casa Madero, the oldest winery in The Americas. Each creative menu from the Chef Series has been crafted by Deboise Mendez and the visiting chefs. The goal of the series is to surprise and captivate diners with original menus, complete with unique flavors, prepared with locally sourced and high quality ingredients.
In September, J&G Grill will celebrate Mexico´s Independence with guest chefs Benito Molina and Solange Muris from the acclaimed restaurant Manzanilla in Ensenada—one of the top gourmet regions in Mexico. Guests attending this brunch will enjoy the iconic parade on Paseo de la Reforma, while indulging in classic regional dishes utilizing shellfish, scallops, tuna, and Ensenada’s classic “tostadas,” paired with a selection of craft beers from Wendlant Brewery, which is also based in Ensenada.
In November, Deboise Méndez will collaborate with celebrity chef Guillermo González Beristaín in December to create a six-course menu accompanied by a unique pairing with selected Mariatinto wines. In addition, guests will have the rare opportunity to taste a vertical of Mariatinto’s best vintages. Chef González Beristaín, a judge for Top Chef Mexico, is well known for his restaurant Pangea—one of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2015.
To conclude this year’s Chef Series, Australian Chef Paul Bentley from Magno Brasserie in Mexico’s rising food capital Guadalajara, will join chef Deboise Méndez in November. Bentley describes his cooking style as "elegant contemporary cuisine with a rustic essence.” Together, the chefs will reimagine the classic Thanksgiving feast for a memorable dinner.
